Festen wins at The Olivier Awards

Festen has won Best New Opera Production at the 2025 Olivier Awards.
Premiered at the Royal Opera House in February 2025 this new opera was composed by Mark-Anthony Turnage, with a libretto by Lee Hall and directed by Richard Jones.
Gerald Finley created the role of Helge in this new production continuing many years of collaboration with Mark-Anthony Turnage having previously stared in his operas The Silver Tassie and Anna Nicole.

Gerald Finley’s performance of Elijah with Sir Antonio Pappano, the London Symphony Orchestra and the London Symphony Orchestra has now been released by LSO Live.
This live performance was recorded at the Barbican in January 2024 with Masabane Cecilia Rangwanasha, Dame Sarah Connolly and Allan Clayton.

The Bavarian State Opera announced that Canadian bass-baritone Gerald Finley has been awarded the prestigious title of Kammersänger. The ceremony took place after a performance of Parsifal at the National-theatre, in which Finley sang the role of Amfortas.
Finley has been closely associated with the Bayerische Staatsoper since his house debut as Don Giovanni at the 2011 Munich Opera Festival. He will continue to be a regular guest at the Bayerische Staatsoper. In their next season, he will sing the title roles of the Count in Le Nozze di Figaro and the title role of Macbeth. He will also present a song recital.
Gerald Finley joins other distinguished singers who have been awarded the title of Kammersänger at the Bavarian State Opera, a list that includes Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Jonas Kaufmann, Nina Stemme, Plácido Domingo, Brigitte Fassbaender, Diana Damrau, Waltraud Meier and others.
